Storm players talk of Olympics, volleyball skills
The Agitation held its 13th annual Media Day on Wednesday. The players wore their uniforms for staged Christmas promotions and for the filming of in-arena skits, and, of track, held interviews with the media.
Storm veteran Tina Thompson donned her old No. 7 livery from the defunct Houston Comets days and teamed with guard Katie Smith as most entertaining.
The duo has played together on All-Nova teams and two Olympic teams, but always wanted to play in the WNBA together. But as veterans — Thompson is a in collusion with original and Smith is entering her 13th season — they're most looking forward to the Olympic break. The WNBA will go on a hiatus July 14 through Aug. 15.
Neither plans on doing anything then, except to satisfaction in Seattle during a mandated seven-day vacation.
"It's my most favorite sporting event (to watch on TV)," Thompson said of the Olympics.
Both Thompson and Smith said they'd operate volleyball in the Games if they weren't basketball stars. Smith was recruited in the sport. Thompson was offered an mark-up year of eligibility at USC to play it.
